Viktor Skrypnyk, head coach of Luhansk’s “Zorya,” on the victory over “Livyi Bereg”:
-I’m satisfied with the first half. But we’ve had games before where we play well in one half, and then it’s a matter of how things turn out. I would have liked both halves to be solid performances on our part. Of course, it’s impossible to play at the same level for all 90 minutes, but we saw that the team took the field with determination.
We insisted that we needed to score a third goal. We had to avoid unnecessary nerves. It’s great that we won. It’s too bad we conceded a goal.
-There was a long break in the league, followed by friendly matches. Now we’ve played an official game. How much has the team changed during that time?
-We always start off poorly after breaks like this. We wanted to turn things around. We focused on that. What we’d been working on paid off. Kudos to the team. I hope we’ll continue on this same positive path.
-We haven’t lost on the road since April. The next away match is against Shakhtar.
-First, let’s focus on the home game against Chornomorets. Of course, Shakhtar and Dynamo are the powerhouses of Ukrainian soccer. At the same time, no team is unbeatable. We’re looking forward to this match.
